Spinal Mobility and Lawrence Harding
Lawrence Harding has been a physical therapist for over 30 years. During that time, he has been instrumental in bringing Community Activities to individuals with disabilities for many years. Prior to Covid the Axis project located in Harlem, was a place where those with disabilities could gather for guided exercise, cooking classes, educational sessions, and to participate in urban outings, to list a few. Unfortunately, the location had to shut down because of the pandemic. Lawrence is also the founder of the Spinal Mobility Program and has been instructing both Physical and Occupational therapists in the components of the Program all over the United States for many years. This program assists individuals with limited control of their trunk to improve their balance to facilitate postural control, helping them with everyday activities. He has been a regular presenter to our second-year students, and this year we were fortunate to have him back in person with live demonstration on clients. Lawrence engages with our students enthusiastically and has a passion for community integration for individuals with disabilities. Fortunately, new space has been obtained for Spinal Mobility programs to begin again on April 1st, 2023.
Please find some photos below of Lawrence's most recent visit with us, and some additional information about his Spinal Mobility Boot Camp.
