Dr. Stacy Kinirons is Accepted into Virginia Apgar Academy

The Programs in Physical Therapy are pleased to announce that PT faculty member Stacy Kinirons, PT, PhD, MPH has been accepted into the Virginia Apgar Academy of Medical Educators

The Academy is a community of educators at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons that is dedicated to promoting, rewarding and supporting outstanding education. Membership in the Academy not only represents recognition of excellence as an educator, but also a commitment to contributing to the educational life of the CUIMC medical community.

The Academy offers a number of educational resources, including seminars, visits from national and international medical educators, and a grant program for innovative educational projects.

Dr. Kinirons’ faculty tenure began in 2004. Among other accomplishments, she directs Gross Anatomy, a 7-credit course that includes a full dissection laboratory component. She also directs Neuroscience and developed three elective courses that offer second-and third-year students the opportunity to mentor, tutor and teach anatomy to first-year students. She has been the recipient of the DPT program’s Excellence in Teaching Award for three consecutive years. Awardees are decided by student vote.

Dr. Kinirons commented, “it is an honor to be part of this group of outstanding educators who are committed to enriching the CUIMC educational community.”
