Qualifications
Applicants to the Residency Program in Medical Physics (Therapy) should demonstrate a sufficient knowledge of physics documented by having earned at minimum a master’s degree, with a Ph.D. strongly preferred, in physics, engineering, or a related discipline. The clinical-research track only considers applicants with a PhD degree. In addition, applicants must have either graduated from a CAMPEP-accredited graduate program or have completed a CAMPEP-accredited certificate program.
Columbia University supports visa applications for highly qualified international applicants. International applicants must be eligible to work in the US to receive an appointment at Columbia University.

Positions
We currently have one resident position for clinical-research track (three years) open with the starting date on July 1st, 2026. The resident should obtain a PhD degree before the start of residency training.
Applications
We participate the Medical Physics Matching Program. Interested applicants should submit their application through the Medical Physics Residency Application Program. The application deadline is December 31 in the preceding year.
Selected applicants will be invited for on-site (or virtual through Zoom) interviews between February and early March. The new resident will start residency training on July 1st.
Salary and Benefits
Our program offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Medical Physics Residents with PhD degrees hold appointments as Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Residents with master's degrees will receive an academic appointment as Staff Associate. The benefits follow the benefits outlined in the following resources:

In addition, the program provides each resident $2,500 educational funding per year for conference attendance, books, and software pertaining to their training.
