Piggy Back IOLs

- Placing two artificial intraocular lenses (IOLs) in one eye after cataract removal surgery.

Indication
- Hyperopic eyes

- Miscalculation of lens power which causes significant post-operative refractive error

- Explantation or removal of previously implanted IOL is difficult and/or may cause greater risk

- Slit lamp examination demonstrates two IOLs in either the same or two different anatomical section(s) such as in capsular bag, ciliary sulcus and/ or transclerally fixated lens.
