CUIMC Symphony Orchestra

The CUIMC Symphony Orchestra is composed of students, faculty, and staff members from across Columbia University Irving Medical Center, including the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Mailman School of Public Health, School of Nursing, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Institute of Human Nutrition, and more. Founded in 1992 by Drs. Julie Lin and Frank David, the orchestra today has nearly 60 musicians. We perform three concerts per year, two in the fall semester and one in the spring.

Our mission is to use orchestra music and symphonic concerts to bring together the diverse population of Columbia's medical center community, including students, teachers, researchers, clinicians, health care workers, staff, and patients and their families. Our goals for the year are to provide students and other members of the campus community with the opportunity to expand their musical talents and to present outstanding concerts to the campus community and beyond.
