Admissions

To apply to the DPT Program, all applicants (including international) must file through the Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service (PTCAS).

Our firm application deadline is October 1st. We encourage you to apply as early as possible to allow for your application to be verified by PTCAS and considered for interview.

Applicants interested in applying to our program should refer to our admissions requirements for more detailed information.

Transfer of Credit Policy

The Columbia DPT Program will not accept transfer credits from other DPT programs because of the lack of consistency among DPT curricula.

Interviews

Eligible applicants will be invited to a required on-campus interview. Our interview sessions run from August-October. Invited applicants should expect to spend a full day on-campus. The interview process serves a dual purpose:

  1. It provides a realistic evaluation of eligibility for admission into the program, as it assesses personality, clarity of thought, strength of academic background, quality of related clinical and work experience, and knowledge of the profession.
  2. It gives the applicant an opportunity to learn more about the program's teaching and learning philosophy and to spend time with faculty and enrolled students to appraise the program in terms of meeting personal and professional growth.

Applicant decisions are made on a rolling basis and no later than November 1st.
