Blue Dot Cataract
- Also called cataracta punctata caerulea
- Not uncommon
Clinical Features
- Often found as an incidental finding during routine ocular examination
- Symptoms:
- Asymptomatic
- Patient may develop cataract at an adult younger age
- Signs:
- Discrete punctuate bluish opacities throughout the cortex
- Classified as coronary cataract if the opacities occur in a ring configuration near the lens equator
Management
observation if not visually significant
