USMLE Board Preparation & Dedicated Study Time
MD students will have 3 Months for USMLE board preparation and learning/ consolidating basic science and clinical knowledge following completion of the Major Clinical Year.
Protected study time for USMLE exam preparation occurs in January + 2 flex months that can be chosen and registered for between February and July 31.
The VP&S deadline for taking Step 1 is February 28 following MCY for MD students and March 31 for MD-Bassett students. MD/PhD and OMFS students take the exam after finishing Fundamentals early during their clinical year. PhD to MD students take the exam in July of their Major Clinical Year.
The VP&S deadline for taking Step 2 CK is July 31 for MD students and December 31 for MD/PhD and PhD to MD students.

USMLE® Step 1 is the first part of a three step exam for medical licensure in the United States.
USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge
The USMLE® Step 2 is the second part of the three step exam for medical licensure in the United States.
The clinical knowledge exam assesses the application of medical knowledge, skills, and clinical science concepts to the provision of patient diagnoses and care under supervision, with an emphasis on health maintenance and disease prevention.
