Biomedical Life Sciences
The Biomedical Life Sciences Program (BLS) is the umbrella PhD training program in biomedical sciences under VIBRE. The program was designed to spark scientific curiosity, give students a strong foundation in core biomedical knowledge, and provide the flexibility to shape their own training path. Students begin with shared coursework and research experiences that build broad skills, while also having the freedom to explore across disciplines and discover the research direction that best matches their interests both in the lab and in their future careers.
While all students start with the same core foundation, the program also offers ten specialized tracks. This structure gives students the best of both worlds: a common intellectual framework that connects everyone, and the chance to dive deeply into advanced training within a specific discipline. Each track provides focused knowledge, techniques, and mentoring in its field, while still encouraging connections across the broader biomedical science programs.
