VP&S Faculty Honors Reception

Each year, the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons celebrate outstanding faculty achievements at the VP&S Faculty Honors. The program highlights faculty who were promoted, granted tenure, or recognized by national, and/or international organizations during the previous academic year. The VP&S Honors Reception also includes a musical performance by talented CUIMC students and remarks from the dean.

The event, hosted by Dean Katrina Armstrong, Senior Vice Dean of Clinical Affairs James McKiernan, and the Office of Academic Affairs, included a musical selection performed by members of the VP&S Musicians’ Guild: Matthew Ho and Lauren Zhang on violin; Seohyun Kim on viola; and Alan Chen on cello.

Message from Dr. Katrina Armstrong, Dean of the Faculties of Health Sciences and the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons:

Congratulations to our VP&S faculty who received promotions or honors during the 2024-2025 academic year!

VP&S is a world-renowned community driven by faculty who advance human health with expertise and empathy. Your vision and commitment fuel our mission to prepare the next generation of changemakers. This year, we honor faculty whose exceptional achievements embody what makes VP&S extraordinary. Recognized by peers within and beyond the Vagelos College of Physicians and
Surgeons, these honorees represent true academic excellence and distinction.

Academic promotion recognizes the accomplishments of our faculty in one or more of our core missions:

  • Transformative research that spans the continuum from basic laboratory studies to clinical and population-based studies
  • Extraordinary care of our patients
  • Innovative education that prepares the next generation of physicians and scientists
  • Service to our communities in Washington Heights, Harlem, Northern Manhattan, and beyond

We also celebrate well-deserved external honors earned by our faculty over the past academic year. Our celebration today is an expression of how faculty at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons continue to inspire our community as we further our legacy in shaping the future of medicine.
