About the Researcher

Ronald Silverman was introduced to ophthalmology when he joined Jack Coleman’s lab at the Cornell University Medical Center a Research Associate in 1982. While working full-time at Cornell, he completed a PhD in Computer Science (1990), with a dissertation on neural networks for image analysis and tissue classification. Dr. Silverman joined Columbia in 2010 where he continues his research, performs clinical ultrasound imaging, and directs the annual Basic & Clinical Science Course in Ophthalmology.
