G-SEARCH: Glaucoma Screening to Enhance At-Risk Californians' Health
G-SEARCH (Glaucoma Screening to Enhance At-Risk Californians’ Health) is a randomized trial in which patients in California are randomized to one of three treatment arms:
- A mobile telemedicine-based screening arm that relies on state-of-the-art optical coherence tomography (OCT) testing of the optic nerve.
- An educational flyer that encourages patients to make an appointment with an eye care provider.
- Delayed educational flyer at the conclusion of the trial.
The outcome of the trial is self-reported glaucoma diagnosis, assessed through a phone call at 3 months and 12 months. The trial will also assess if the screening intervention provides ancillary benefits, including improved access to cataract surgery and eyeglasses, as well as improved quality of life. A cost-effectiveness analysis will be performed.

- People with risk factors for glaucoma who have not seen an optometrist in the past year
