Who Is Eligible?
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of New York
- Eligible candidates can be new/recent graduates of an accredited physical therapy program, and/or demonstrate clinical experience in the orthopedic setting.
- Professional behaviors demonstrating an interest in pursuing advanced clinical skills in orthopedics, research, and teaching.
Application Requirements
Applicants are required to submit the following items to complete the application package:
- A personal essay, which will include:
- Why do you want to complete this residency vs. other available residencies for physical therapists?
- How will this specific residency program contribute to your vision of your career course?
- Three letters of professional reference
- Transcripts from your physical therapy program (can be unofficial)
- Contact information for your prior job positions
- Copy of your physical therapy license
- Professional resume

To apply for the orthopedic residency, visit the Residency and Fellowship Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service (RF-PTCAS), create a login and indicate that you are applying for the Columbia University / New York Presbyterian orthopedic physical therapy residency.
Application Cycle Opens: we offer rolling admissions, so you can apply across the year
Application Deadline: December 1, 2025
Interview Notification: early to mid-January the following year.
Interviews: completed by end of February the following year.
Decision Notifications By: first week of March the following year.
