Overview
Lauren Yeager, MD is Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with High Distinction from the Honors College. She then completed her medical degree at Boston University, followed by an Internal Medicine Internship at Mount Sinai Hospital and an Ophthalmology Residency at SUNY Downstate. She completed fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Children's National Medical Center. After practicing for more than a decade as a pediatric ophthalmologist, providing medical and surgical treatment to children with complex ophthalmic issues and adults with strabismus, she went on to pursue a fellowship in Ophthalmic Oncology at Columbia University and is one of few physicians dual trained in pediatric ophthalmology and ophthalmic oncology.
Her clinical research is focused on improving our understanding and management of rare ophthalmic cancers in children and adults, and she is actively involved in numerous clinical trials evaluating novel cancer treatments. She has presented her work nationally and internationally. As a dedicated educator, she has served as Director of the Medical Student Clerkship in Ophthalmology at Columbia University and has educated and mentored numerous medical students, residents, and fellows from around the world.
