Message from the Director

Harlem Hospital Center

Uchechukwu Nnamdi, MD

Welcome to the Residency Training Program in Psychiatry at Harlem Hospital Center. Our goal is to develop outstanding psychiatrists who have well-developed clinical skills in a broad range of settings, a thorough scientific knowledge base, a commitment to the practice of evidence-based medicine, effective leadership skills, and motivation for lifelong learning. Psychiatry residents from Harlem Hospital Center go on to competitive fellowships, academic appointments, and clinical work in many settings in all areas of the U.S.

We strive to create a superior educational environment and recognize that each resident brings unique strengths and viewpoints. In addition to clinical supervision during rotations, the program offers protected time for didactics, which includes seminars at our affiliate institution, Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons/New York State Psychiatric Institute.

Harlem Hospital Center residents also have access to the Columbia University Libraries and educational programs throughout the University.
