Medical Education

Medical Education is important part of our professional mission. During their ward attending rotation, our physicians train Columbia University (CU) Internal Medicine residents, who spend one quarter of their residency rotating through our campus on a general medicine service and in the ICU. Further, Columbia medical students in their major clinical year are embedded within our ward teams, gaining further invaluable hands-on experience.

A subgroup of our physicians also provides focused care and supervision for PGY-1 Columbia residents managing our patients overnight in the Allen ICU, ensuring both consistent quality of patient care and resident education in the critical care setting.

Medical students from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons are assigned to each of our primary hospitalist teams as a part of their monthly sub internship rotation. This program is one of the most highly rated and sought after experiences for third-and fourth-year students, because it is offering one-on-one supervised learning and direct, intensive patient care experience.

Additionally, many of our physicians serve as the medical school instructors, contributing to various courses, bedside teaching sessions, and other preclinical training. We are committed to the well-being and success of all community members. We comply with all applicable civil rights laws and does not engage in illegal preferences or discrimination.

Through these mentorship and education activities, we are proud to be shaping the next generation of clinicians.
