Robert N. Taub, MD

Robert N. Taub, M.D., Ph.D. is Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Professor of Clinical Medicine, Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and Attending Oncologist, Columbia University Medical Center. He is a medical oncologist and hematologist with a special interest in the diagnosis, clinical care, and investigation of patients with malignant mesothelioma and soft tissue sarcoma.

Dr. Taub received a BA degree from Yeshiva University (NY), MD from Yale University (CT), fellowship training at New England Medical Center (Boston, MA), and PhD from London University (UK). He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, Oncology, and Allergy-Immunology. He has served as: Assistant through Associate Professor of Medicine, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, NY; Professor and Chairman of Medical Oncology, and American Cancer Society Professor of Clinical Oncology, Medical College of Virginia, Richmond; and Professor of Clinical Medicine and Co-Director, Columbia University Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation, American Society for Clinical Oncology (Program, Publication committees), and Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (Scientific Advisory Board), and holds awards from the Israel Cancer Research Fund and the Mount Sinai Hospital, NY.

The Columbia Mesothelioma Center under Dr. Taub’s direction focused on developing unique new treatment algorithms utilizing intracavitary chemotherapy for multimodal treatment of abdominal mesothelioma and for lung-sparing treatment of pleural mesothelioma. Dr Taub’s interests are in investigator-initiated cell-biology based laboratory and translational studies in mesothelioma and soft tissue sarcoma, in collaboration with the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Departments of Surgery and Pathology, as a means of optimizing the clinical care that he and his colleagues directly provide to these patients.
