Overview
Dr. Gaston Jean-Louis Jr. is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is a member of the Classical Hematology and Lymphoma services.
Dr. Jean-Louis received his Bachelor of Arts cum laude in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Harvard University, where he conducted research on potential therapeutic strategies for sickle cell disease and thalassemias. He received his MD from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2020. He completed his residency in internal medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He continued his fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Fellow.
Dr. Jean-Louis's research focuses on post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders and the hematologic complications of solid organ transplantation and other immunocompromised states. Supported by an NIH T32 Molecular Oncology Training Grant during his fellowship, he contributed to multiple clinical research studies of lymphoma treatment outcomes and developed a research program investigating potential genetic risk factors for lymphoma. His clinical practice includes indolent and aggressive lymphomas, hematologic complications in immunocompromised patients, and non-malignant blood disorders including anemia, low platelet counts, and bleeding and clotting disorders. He sees patients at the main CUIMC campus and NewYork-Presbyterian The One in White Plains.
