Research and Staff Opportunities
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Translational Immunology
The lab of Ran Reshef is inviting greatly motivated, creative and experienced individuals with a strong interest in innovative immunology research that is at the interface of transplantation and cancer immunology and will have significant translational potential. Our lab focuses on immune responses after hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation and CAR T cell therapies using pre-clinical models, human biospecimens and early phase clinical trials.
Projects in the lab evolve from our published work (Reshef NEJM 2012, Reshef JCO 2015, Moy Blood 2017, Harle ASH 2020) and are funded by several NIH and Department of Defense grants. The lab is part of the Columbia Center for Translational Immunology that is equipped with state-of-the-art resources including CyTOF, full spectrum flow cytometry (Cytek), 10x genomics platform, humanized mice core and immune monitoring core. We work in close collaboration with computational biologists in the Department of biomedical Engineering and manage a unique biospecimen bank that contains blood and tissue samples from recipients of bone marrow transplants and CAR T cell therapies.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Xenotransplantation
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow candidate for the large animal xenotransplant immunology and surgery laboratory (Nowak Lab) should have completed an MD and/or PhD in a relevant field, such as immunology. While not required, it is desirable for the candidate to have at least 2 years of clinical experience in a surgical training program. Experience in non-surgical clinical fields will also make candidates eligible for this position, including candidates with no surgical experience. The primary responsibility of the fellow will be overseeing all clinical care of the large animals involved in our studies (pigs and nonhuman primates), which includes pre-and post-operative care. The fellow will also be involved in all operations on the large animals, including access and transplant surgery. The fellow will be responsible for the conduct, interpretation, and presentation of all relevant immunological data, including but not limited to flow cytometry, PCR, in-vitro assays like MLR and ELISPOT and immunohistochemistry. The fellow will participate in supervision of several lab and vet technicians and ensure the proper conduct of the experiments being completed. Candidates without clinical experience will focus less on large animal surgery and more on studies assessing the mechanisms of transplant tolerance in our large animal models. We expect exposure of the fellow to a multidisciplinary approach and dedication to continuous learning, to develop outstanding personal and professional skills.
