Que Lab

The Que Lab is focused on the developmental and stem cell biology of the foregut-derived organs including the esophagus and lung. The Que laboratory is the first in the world to derive the esophageal epithelium from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). They further showed that hPSCs-derived esophageal cells are able to form tubular structures which have the potential for using in clinics. The incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma has increased by seven folds for past three decades, and most of the patients need esophagectomy to remove all or parts of the esophagus. The technology developed in the Que laboratory holds the promise to generate transplantable esophagus.
