The single largest gift ever made to Columbia’s medical school was bestowed last summer when Roy’54 and Diana Vagelos made a $400 million gift in August of 2024.
Community members came together in October 2024 to celebrate the scientific accomplishments of Roy Vagelos’54 and the support that he and his wife Diana have committed to Columbia University and VP&S.
Jay Vyas was appointed associate dean for academic innovation and director of physician-scientist programs at the Roy and Diana Vagelos Institute for Basic Biomedical Science in October of 2024.
A VP&S student-led initiative called Pick Up Sports and Health is combining sports and science as a way of motivating community youth to pursue health-oriented careers and promote health equity.
