Geriatric Palliative Care Consult Service
The Geriatric Palliative Care Consult Service is an interdisciplinary team available to assist with complex geriatric syndromes, uncontrolled symptoms in patients of all ages with serious illness, complex medical decision-making, and end-of-life management. The team provides consultations for adult patients admitted to Allen Hospital. Its mission is to provide optimal care for frail and vulnerable older adults while educating others about Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care.
The Geriatric Palliative Care Consult Service is committed to extensive educational efforts and serves as the sole source of formally trained practicing clinical geriatrics experts, allowing medical students, residents, and fellows from across Columbia University to rotate within the Geriatric Palliative Care Consult team. The success of the Geriatric Palliative Care Consult Service is directly attributed to the expert team’s unwavering commitment to delivering an uncompromising standard of excellence in patient care on behalf of the hospital and the community it serves.
