Research

This Division of Internal Medicine at Allen is committed to advancing healthcare research that reflects the communities we serve, working closely with the NewYork-Presbyterian Ambulatory Care Network (ACN). Our community research arm ensures that research projects and grant initiatives are patient-centered, culturally sensitive, and seamlessly integrated into our care settings.

Our Approach

We believe that research should not only benefit patients but also actively include them in the process. Our initiatives focus on:

  • Research Participation: We ensure that patients from many backgrounds have opportunities to participate in research projects and grant proposals, making clinical research more representative.
  • Patient-Centered Education & Recruitment: We prioritize culturally sensitive and accessible education about research opportunities, helping patients make informed decisions about participation.
  • Early & Meaningful Engagement: We involve A.C.N. staff and patients as early as possible in the research process— from project inception to implementation— to ensure that studies are relevant and beneficial to our communities.
  • Seamless Integration in Practice: When appropriate, we incorporate research initiatives into our clinical settings, aligning them with patient care to enhance accessibility and minimize disruption.
  • Education on Clinical Trials: We provide clear, transparent information about the benefits and risks of participating in clinical trials, empowering our patients and communities with knowledge.
  • Sharing Research Results: We are committed to ensuring that findings from our research projects are shared with the patients, practices, and communities involved, fostering trust and transparency.

By embedding research within our healthcare network, we strive to improve patient outcomes, advance medical knowledge, and ensure that innovation in healthcare benefits our community.
