Patient Care

The Center for Patient Safety Science is committed to supporting the operations of ColumbiaDoctors. The Center's patient care and quality work includes internal and external initiatives such as:

  • Providing support for the design, implementation, and evaluation of patient safety projects based on the most common trends and challenges in patient safety at CUIMC.
  • Encouraging alignment of faculty patient safety research endeavors with leading patient safety priorities at Columbia.
  • Advising the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer on best practices in quality and safety to guide improvement efforts across CUIMC locations, departments, and services.
  • Supporting implementation and analysis of an annual safety culture survey.
  • Advising on implementation of predictive models to prevent patient safety events.
  • Assisting with the external review of quality and patient safety processes at CUIMC, as well as an annual review of all patient safety policies and procedures to ensure best-in-class performance.
