Research

CIMBID’s research spans a broad spectrum—from developing core computational methodologies in AI and biomedical image analysis, to discovering and validating multi-modal biomarkers across disease domains, including cancer, neuroscience, and chronic illnesses. These efforts aim to generate both new mechanistic insights into disease processes and practical tools to support personalized clinical decision-making in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases.
While biomedical imaging serves as a central pillar of CIMBID’s work, our vision extends beyond imaging to include integrative, data-driven approaches to biomedical discovery and healthcare innovation. We actively engage collaborators across Columbia’s campuses, linking basic science, engineering, clinical medicine, public health, and health services research, to address pressing biomedical challenges and promote more effective care.
Through our interdisciplinary model, CIMBID is building the next generation of intelligent biomedical imaging and data science solutions, advancing personalized medicine by driving innovation that bridges technical advancement with clinical impact.
