BRIDGE: OpenSpecimen
The VP&S Office for Research has invested in OpenSpecimen, a comprehensive biospecimen management system. OpenSpecimen is a web-based system that tracks the entire biobank workflow including patient registration and consent, sample collection, processing, storage, and distribution. It is highly configurable and is managed centrally by the BRIDGE technology team.
Services provided by the team include configuring workflows based on the biobank’s needs, creating custom reports, training end-users, and providing support. The team also sets up an off-the-shelf protocol at no extra cost for users who recruit under the Columbia University Biobank (CUB).
