    Dr. Norweg is Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine (Occupational Therapy) in the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Norweg’s clinical and translational research aims to develop and evaluate mind-body, mHealth technology, and multilevel physical activity and rehabilitation interventions to treat respiratory and chronic fatigue symptoms, reduce stress, and increase well-being and resilience. Her research also focuses on precision measurement, improving patient reported outcomes measurement, and preventing falls in community-dwelling older adults.

    The study aims were to (1) create an expanded ‘item bank’ for the Dyspnea Management Questionnaire, (2) evaluate the reliability and validity of the expanded DMQ item bank, (3) develop a prototype DMQ Computer Adaptive Test (DMQ-CAT) instrument for COPD clinical research, and (4) conduct computer simulation estimates of the prototype DMQ-CAT’s accuracy, precision, and response burden.

    DEVELOPMENT AND PSYCHOMETRIC TESTING OF THE DYSPNEA AND DYSPNEA-RELATED ANXIETY MANAGEMENT QUESTIONNAIRE

    The goals were to develop and psychometrically test a multidimensional, patient-reported outcome measure of dyspnea for adults with COPD.

     

    Prior to joining Columbia University, Dr. Norweg held faculty appointments at New York University Grossman School of Medicine, Northwestern University School of Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago, Boston University School of Public Health, and State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Norweg was a Clinical Research Scientist at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab (Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago). She also held clinical positions at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center, Rusk Rehabilitation, and the Transport Accident Commission Rehabilitation Center (Australia).

    Brittany Hofferber graduated from the University of Virginia and is the research coordinator for the CALM Breathing study. Brittany’s research interests include mind-body interventions, telehealth solutions, and cardiopulmonary diseases.

    Sophia Maguire is a volunteer research associate in the CALM Breathing study. She received her BSc in Psychology from the University of Toronto and her MA in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University.

    Tanvi Prabhakar is a Research Assistant in the RESToRE study. She received her BA in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University in 2023 and is pursuing an MPH in Epidemiology at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health.

  • Michael Spinner

    • Research Exercise Physiologist

    Michael Spinner is a research exercise physiologist and research coordinator. Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of Arizona and a Master of Science in Exercise Science from Montclair State University. Michael has a few main roles in the Norweg lab. He is responsible for administering cardiopulmonary exercise testing, pulmonary function tests, 6-minute walk tests, and patient reported outcome measures, as well as providing exercise training.
