Special Requirements 

Alan & Ruth Borenstein Medical Scholarship Fund 

The Alan and Ruth Borenstein Medical Scholarship Fund is pleased to invite all current first, second, and third-year students to apply for a scholarship for the 2022-23 academic year.

American School Health Association 

Offered to current ASHA members.  A declared major related to Pediatric or Adolescent Medicine.

American Society of Hematology - ASH Minority Medical Student Award Pgrm

Offered to students with an interest in hematology and commitment to research and/or health disparities.

Armenian American Medical Society 

Armenian descent or special interest in Armenian medical causes.

Charles River District Medical Society Scholarship Program

You must be a legal resident of one of the five towns comprising the district: Needham, Newton, Waltham, Wellesley, and Weston.

Chinese American Medical Society - CAMS Scholarship 

Open to all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year students.

Chinese American Physicians' Society

The scholarship is open to all first, second and third year medical or dental students*. Students must be in good standing at an accredited U.S. medical or dental school in the USA at the time of application.  

*Currently MS, DS and OMS 1, 2, and 3 students are qualified to apply. Any students that have just been accepted into medical school or dental school at the time of application are not eligible to apply at this time.

Applicants must be current or pending CAMS Student members to apply.

Daughters of the American Revolution 

Various scholarships are open to medical students.

Dr. Frank and Florence Marino Scholarship

Male or female college graduate, who is in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year* of medical school, who: (1) has attended Connecticut public and/or parochial schools for at least eight years; (2) has graduated from a Connecticut public or parochial high school; and (3) who is attending, and is in good standing at, an A.M.A. (or similar status accrediting entity) accredited medical school located in the United States.

Dr. Hugh Mahoney Scholarship Program

Applicants must be a legal resident of one of the following Middlesex North District:  Billerica, Chelmsford, Dracut, Dunstable, Groton, Lowell, Pepperell, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro, and Westford.

Essex South District Medical Society Annual Scholarship

5-year prior residency of an Essex South community with a desire to return and practice in the area.

Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society   - Blair County Medical Society Scholarship (BCMS), Lehigh County Medical Auxiliary's Scholarship and Educational (LeCoMASE) Fund Scholarship, Lycoming County Medical Society Scholarship (LCMS), Myrtle Siegfried, MD, and Michael Vigilante, MD, Scholarship

Various scholarships are offered to Pennsylvania residents. 

Financial Assistance Program (Navy Medicine)

Open to U.S. citizens who are accepted into a residency program in an area needed by the U.S. Navy and are physically qualified for a commission. Applicants are obligated to serve. 

Global Health Scholarship 

Open to Family Medicine Residents in Connecticut 

Health Careers Scholarship 

Offered to students who have completed their first year of medical school. May re-apply for three academic years and must be in good academic standing. 

Health Professions Scholarship Program 

Open to students enrolled in a medical or osteopathic school and are on active duty in the U.S. Army. 

Hellenic Medical Society 

Hellenic heritage originating from NY, NJ, Conn., or Pennsylvania.  Have completed the entire 1st year of medical school and have demonstrated academic achievement and/or financial need.  

Hispanic Scholarship Fund 

Need-based. Offered to students of Hispanic heritage.  

Japanese Medical Society of America (JMSA)

Merit-based.  Should propose a clear, achievable project that will benefit the JMSA and the Japanese community. 

Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago (JCFS)

Need-based. Open to Jewish medical students who were born and raised in Chicago or employed full-time for one year in the Chicago metropolitan area. 

Joanna F. Reed Medical Scholarship

Students must reside in Alabama or Northwest Florida.

Kaiser Permanente Scholarship 

Be a current third-year medical student in good academic standing.  Interested in seeking a residency in Northern California.  Offered to medical students with a demonstrated commitment to under-served communities.  

Korean American Scholarship Foundation 

Need-based. Open to Korean American students who are enrolled full-time. 

Kosciuszko Foundation

Various scholarship opportunities for American Students of Polish descent.

Leopold Schepp Foundation 

Available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. 

Maine Medical Association

Various scholarships are open to students who demonstrate financial need with a connection to Maine or students that are from Aroostook County.

Massachusetts Medical Society 

Several scholarships are offered to medical students and those who are residents of Massachusetts.

Muhlenberg Foundation - Medical Staff Scholarship & The Howard G. Lapsley Scholarship

Both scholarships are open to NJ residents of Union, Somerset, and Middlesex Counties.

National Association of Medical Minority Educators, Inc. - NAMME National Scholarship

Need-based.  Offered to minority medical students. 

National Health Service Corps 

Open to medical students who agree to work at least 2 years in a medically underserved area at an NHSC site upon graduation and completion of residency.  

National Hispanic Health Foundation 

Requires an affinity for the health of Hispanic communities and an interest in participating in NHHF Scholars Alumni activities.

National Institutes of Health 

Loan repayment program open to medical students engaged in extramural and intramural research. 

National Italian American Foundation 

Various scholarships are offered to Italian American students.

National Medical Fellowships 

Need-based.  Merit-based.  Various scholarships are offered to US citizens or DACA minority students committed to serving medically underserved communities. 

Native Forward Scholars Fund - Science Post Graduate Scholarship Fund (BIE-SPGSF)

Provide financial assistance to eligible American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Navy Medical Scholarship 

Offered to medical students and residents. Not obligated to serve until after the completion of their educational program and do not need to attend a military medical school.

Need-based.  Academic merit and other non-academic factors.

NY Grace Legendre Endowment Fund, Inc. 

Need-based. Merit-based. Open to women who are U.S. citizens and New York residents. 

Orazio DiMauro Scholarship 

Need-based.  Must be a resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut, or the surrounding towns. 

Organization of American States Professional Development Scholarships 

Several scholarship opportunities are offered to students who are citizens or permanent residents of member states of OAS. 

Pat Tillman Foundation

Open to military service members, veterans or spouses who are applying to be a full-time student pursuing a graduate or professional degree for the upcoming fall/spring academic year.  Go to website for eligibility requirements.

Pauletta and Denzel Family Gifted Scholars Program in Neuroscience

Open to medical students who are U.S. citizens and permanent residents and are interested in neuroscience research. 

Physicians of Tomorrow Awards 

Open to nominated medical students approaching their final year. 

Pisacano Leadership Foundation 

Students who have made a commitment to the field of family medicine and who will enter their fourth year of medical school in the fall.

Roothbert Fund Scholarship

Open to all in the U.S. and those who consider careers in education. 

Rowe Fund of the Organization of American States 

Loan repayment program open to OAS members. 

Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara 

Offered to medical students. Some eligibility requirements vary.

Offered to all medical students who demonstrate financial need.

Vietnamese American Medical Association 

Several scholarship opportunities are offered to medical students. 

Waterbury Medical Assoc. - Welsford and Mildred Clark Medical Memorial Scholarship Fund - The deadline for application submission has been extended to August 30, 2021.

Need-based. Offered to medical students who are entering their fourth year and are residents of Connecticut for 5 years. 

Worcester District Medical Society

Need-based.  2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students that are legal residents of Central Massachusetts at the time of applying to medical school who demonstrate involvement in community service.
